of thrift stores and snow storms...

Today is the day that my sister Bridget came to town (well last night actually)! YAY!

What do we do???

Wake up, drink coffee and head to the Salvation Army! And then multiple other outlet stores and bargain shopping... I must say it's a dangerous thing to do-added to that one of the largest snowfalls of the year. It was thrilling, intense, satisfying, laughable, grande, dangerous (once again- 1.the weather 2. the amount of money spent 3. stealing items of clothing from other scavengers 4. other levels I won't go into), and just an all around good day was had by Bridget and me.

We've ended it with a nice glass of wine, the fire, cookies, tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches. *Ahhhhh* We shall sleep well tonight. Never question the magnificence (or
damage) of sister power!

We're still scheming up tomorrow's adventures.

I'm hooked

Well, thanks to my Anna-banana and Splatty Patty, I'm hooked on running.

  • The "endorphina's" as Patty calls them. {edit: this, I guess was termed such by Anners}
  • I love the feeling of accomplishment I get when I'm done.
  • I love feeling my muscles get stronger!
  • I love comradery among my running friends!
  • I love clearing my head when I'm pounding the pavement.
  • I love the nature and people and activity I see along the way.
  • I like having an excuse to buy cute work-out clothes.
  • I enjoy going to race days- the thrill and energy the beats through the event!

Things I don't like but choose to overlook:

  • "Bonking" -a bad run, hitting a wall-physically or mentally
  • Not having the "gumpsion" to just get off the couch and DO IT. (I'm always glad I did when I'm done)
  • I admit I don't like running in the cold, but I'm getting over it.
  • Sore tendons
  • Feeling guilty when I don't get myself out there...

what I'm pondering lately

I will glory in my Redeemer
Whose priceless blood has ransomed me
Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails
And hung Him on that judgment tree
I will glory in my Redeemer
Who crushed the power of sin and death
My only Savior before the Holy Judge
The Lamb Who is my righteousness
The Lamb Who is my righteousness

I will glory in my Redeemer
My life He bought, my love He owns
I have no longings for another
I’m satisfied in Him alone
I will glory in my Redeemer
His faithfulness my standing place
Though foes are mighty and rush upon me
My feet are firm, held by His grace
My feet are firm, held by His grace

I will glory in my Redeemer
Who carries me on eagle's wings
He crowns my life with lovingkindness
His triumph song I'll ever sing
I will glory in my Redeemer
Who waits for me at gates of gold
And when He calls me it will be paradise
His face forever to behold
His face forever to behold
His face forever to behold

Froot Loops at Target?

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Ps. 34:8

OK, maybe it's just me, or maybe it's just the Target's around the Twin Cities, but has anyone else noticed that upon walking in the door of the (women's, at least) bathroom---your nose is greeted with the smell of Froot Loops!?!

I know that it's not just once, or in one location- but in all Target restrooms I've visited, the room bursts with the lovely smell of sweet Fruit Loops. Ah, a blast from my childhood past.  I should ask Charlie if the guy's bathroom visitors have the same privilege.
How about your Target bathroom?
For we are the aroma of Christ to God
among those who are being saved
and among those who are perishing... 2 Cor. 2:15

February Showers bring... ?

Although gentle rains are coming down today *sigh*  -they are not causing this ^  kind of trouble. It is nice (admittedly even though it's really cold), that it is somehow refreshing and hopeful to see the rain and smell the pavement (Charlie thinks I'm crazy when I say I can smell the rain- but I do! the wet pavement, usually the damp grass, the clean freshness of it all) mmmmmm.

Rainy days just make me want to cuddle in with a good book and read, or watch a romantic comedy with a cup of tea. Sometimes I'm even inspired to DRAW! ---But todays' showers, I have a feeling, are just bringing more.... ? snow storms ?     *sings* "let it be spring again"...

Hummmm, I'll enjoy it for what it is right now - a hopeful sign of spring!  And the warmth- 39.5 degrees ABOVE zero. *sings praise!*

I'm not sure it this will allow ya in, but if you want to try, I've posted most pictures from the last two month here.

Last weekend Anna & Patty came to Minneapolis to visit! We had a such a grand time together... there were coffee shops, late night talks, Winter Carnival-going, cross-country skiing, late-night runs, giggles, snow fights, and dueling piano guys, "bombs", snow angles, snow fights, warm weather, burning throats, kettle korn, more shoes than any girl could need, some warm morning baking, and just an all around fantastic time.
